Hi, I’m Caroline!

You know that annoying friend who is always saying “ooh, I heard somewhere that there’s a cafe we HAVE to try when we’re in [insert your next travel destination here]”? Or, perhaps she’s not even going but after you tell her all about how in T-20 days you’ll be morphing into a radiant Julia Roberts as you too discover yourself while exploring the nooks and crannies of Naples, she’ll inevitably email you a long list of pizza rec’s?

I’m that friend.

(What a winning review of myself: an annoying know-it-all.)

I’m constantly saving city guides and Instagram posts of hot spots half a world away, in the hopes that when I visit a new city, I’m armed with not only a list of famous landmarks, but also local favorites and hidden gems too. And when my friends are off to a favorite city of mine, I bombard them with all of the cafes, bars, and markets in which I felt the soul of the place.

In that same spirit, I created this blog – a space to connect with fellow travel enthusiasts, where you can find helpful resources on some of my absolute favorite destinations (AHEM THE BALKANS), and where I can seek recommendations from you too (ah, an ulterior motive ! ! !).

A few fun facts because where else can I talk this much about myself:

• • I live in San Francisco. It’s the greatest city in the world because Exhibit A: once a year, the entire city of SF puts on onesies or tutus or perhaps no clothes at all, and we drink/walk/party along a 12K course and the cops clear the roads just for this purpose, and everyone finds it to be the most normal thing ever.

• • I work at a media tech start-up and have four roommates, two of whom are my best friends, and sometimes I think about the fact that I’m basically living a sitcom.
  • I love… lattes, political TV dramas (the West Wing is my #1), heavy heavy heavy red wines, hot yoga 80% of the time, videos of dogs getting intimated by cats, and my cute nephew who definitely didn’t learn how to end FaceTimes just because he got sick of his aunt calling him constantly.
